Why Losing Sleep Has Been My Best Decision Yet

I’ve made a lot of decisions to help my business over the new year, but one of the best decisions I’ve made is losing sleep. You read that right. I sleep about five hours a night and it has helped me immensely in getting work done. By losing sleep I not only grant myself more hours in the day but I’ve also found the night time is a better time for me to be more productive. At night it is quiet and there are no distractions. Everyone else is asleep and I am up working and not working the way I do in the day time where I get up and answer personal phone calls, but working in a better way. I can focus better and therefore get more done.

Check and Double Check
While I am working at night I can complete tasks that I may have not done throughout the day and I can also double check previous work. By checking over my already completed work, I can rest assured that I will not be re-doing this work later. I can also find any errors I may have overlooked earlier in the haste of daylight.

Less Distractions
Also, at night I am less hungry. Being that I have already had breakfast, lunch, and dinner, I don’t get hungry which leaves me with yet one more distraction less. Another benefit to working at night is that I am not being summoned by constant emails, phone calls, and text messages. Since everyone I know is asleep, I can work without having to speak to anyone else, allowing me a clear mind for solely my work.

More Productive
While I may be sleepy, there is coffee and energy drinks to keep me awake, but at least I am being more productive. They say the early bird gets the worm, but the night owl gets the whole lot of worms and more. By doing work this way I can stay ahead of the game. If I finish the day’s work early, I can get ahead and do the next day’s work or plan myself more goals. There is also time for me to clean up, plan out my calendars, fill out my agenda and brainstorm. Brainstorming is an incredibly important part of business but some times during the day it is hard to truly brainstorm in peace. However, at night it is just me and my work, and nothing else but productivity.
